Virtual Military Training at ASC 2017

Aug 23, 2017

The Australasian Simulation Congress (formerly SimTecT), held from Aug. 29 - 31, in Sydney, Australia, is the simulation industry’s premier conference in Australia and Asia. Bohemia Interactive Simulations is a Gold Sponsor of ASC 2017 and will be demonstrating the latest VBS technologies for virtual reality, game-based simulation and image generation. Visit BISim at booth #45.

To schedule a demonstration in advance, contact Alison Hill at alison.hill@bisimulations.com or call the Australia office at +61 (0)2 49 842 559.

Simulation Demonstrations

VBS Blue for Virtual Reality

VBS Blue IG is a CIGI-compliant image generator that allows any CIGI-compliant simulation host (including VBS3) to leverage the VBS Blue whole-earth rendering technology for visualization. At ASC 2017, BISim will showcase VBS Blue IG visuals in a demonstration of an F/A-18 jet flight simulation using a D-BOX Motion-Cueing System and Ausimtech motion platform, flying over a high-resolution, whole-earth database, with geo-specific Shoalwater Bay terrain in VBS IG.

The simulation uses the Oculus Rift CV1 to provide a highly immersive training environment and an integrated Leap Motion hand-tracking sensor enabling users to see their own hands in the virtual space and freely interact with a highly detailed virtual crew station. The avionics, weapon systems and flight models of an F-18 and artificially intelligent entities will be simulated by the Flex-Air application from SA Simulations. BISim will also showcase a demo of a U.S. Army Stryker vehicle with high-detail interior, running in VBS Blue IG and using the Oculus Rift CV1.

VBS Blue IG will be provided to existing VBS IG customers as part of regular updates. More details to follow later in 2017.

VBS3 for Versatile Desktop Training and Simulation

See the latest features and capabilities in VBS3 including the new VBS Control "Behavior Pack." This package of artificial intelligence features is part of VBS3 as a time-limited, beta content. These include new civilian, convoy, and doctrine-typical infantry combat behaviors, all created with BISim's VBS Control Editor, which is available for purchase now. VBS3 also now supports a range of VR technologies including the Oculus Rift CV1, the HTC Vive and Open Source Virtual Reality hardware. VBS3 is a comprehensive training and development software package, complete with offline and runtime editors, after-action review, a massive content library, developer tools, an easy-to-use interoperability gateway, and a voice communications system.

Government-Industry Integration Exercise
BISim is pleased to participate again in the Distributed Mission Training (DMT) exercise at ASC 2017. BISim will present a training vignette showcasing the distributed simulation capabilities of multiple federated simulation systems for an amphibious assault with VBS3 and its whole-earth rendering technology, VBS Blue. The vignette will also feature technologies from SimCentric Technologies, Plexsys, SA Simulations and ImmersaView.

Presentation
Join BISim's Vice President of Corporate Development Cory Kumm for a presentation on BISim's open standards 'system of systems' approach for the development of cutting-edge, modular simulation-based training systems. The presentation takes place on Tuesday, August 29th, at 1530 in Room C2.3.
