First look at next-generation whole-earth virtual desktop trainer and simulation host

Orlando, Fla. — Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim), a global developer of advanced military training and simulation software, today announced it will conduct hourly live demonstrations of its next-generation whole-earth virtual desktop trainer and simulation host, Virtual Battlespace 4 (VBS4) at I/ITSEC 2019 (booth #2534). The Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) will take place in Orlando at the Orange County Convention Center from December 2 - 6. (Find out more details about demonstrations and BISim-sponsored events on our I/ITSEC 2019 landing page.)

BISim’s new flagship product, VBS4, offers a massive step-change in modularity, openness and ease-of-use as well as the performance and terrain-enhancing capability of BISim’s new engine, VBS Blue. VBS4’s new workflow and capabilities enable users to start training faster, make edits and updates to training scenarios and terrains with greater ease and collaboration, and simulate training scenarios anywhere on the virtual Earth.

“VBS4’s optimized workflows for mission planning and terrain editing allow trainers and trainees to more effectively employ our software with limited or no training,” said Arthur Alexion, BISim’s CEO. “And our VBS Blue and World Server technologies facilitate a whole new world of training, using either the pre-loaded global VBS Blue database or with a customer's own terrain data.”

At I/ITSEC, BISim will showcase the vast capabilities of VBS4 as well as a range of other new products, capabilities and training applications through the following demonstrations:

  • A large combined arms training scenario featuring VBS4 involving a mechanized company, supported by attack helicopters and UAVs.
  • A mixed reality reconfigurable aircraft showcasing the mixed reality visual capabilities of VBS Blue IG along with Varjo’s XR-1 and Bugeye Technologies’ RVCT cockpit and ZedaSoft’s simulation host for an AH-64 pilot and gunner positions.
  • A T-45 VR Part-Task Flight Trainer, developed by BISim for the U.S. Navy. The VR-PTT replicates the crew stations, avionics and flight dynamics of the T-45 aircraft using VR technology, simulation host and flight models provided by FLEX-air, and the visual environment by BISim’s VBS Blue IG. Visitors to the BISim booth can take a test flight using newly integrated Valve Index and VRgineers’ Xtal headsets.
  • A Motion-Equipped Driver Trainer showcasing MotionSystems' MIL-203 motion seat and it’s Reconfigurable Cockpit Module using VBS3 and VBS4 for several different vehicle simulations including tank, armored vehicle and boat simulators.

BISim has partnered with leading members in the simulation industry to present best-in-class software and hardware at I/ITSEC. Booth partners include TerraSim, a BISim company, CM Labs, MotionSystems, Raydon, Systems Technology, Inc. and Serious Simulations. Supporting partners include Bugeye Technologies, SA Simulations and ZedaSoft.

See the latest additions to the product lineup and the newest flagship product, VBS4, in action at BISim’s booth #2534 at the Orange County Convention Center between Monday, December 2 and Friday, December 6.
