BISim and partners to debut a range of the latest developments to the Virtual Battlespace

Stockholm, Sweden — Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim), a global developer of advanced military training and simulation software, alongside stand partners will showcase a broad range of training solutions built on the BISim product line for land, sea and air use cases at ITEC 2019 (stand ID40). The International Forum for the Military Simulation, Training and Education Community (ITEC) is being held in Stockholm, Sweden at the Stockholmsmässan from May 14 to 16.

Existing BISim products serve as the base for the latest developments made in partnership with partners TerraSim, SimCentric Technologies, QuantaDyn Corporation and Novatech, and feature hardware provided by AFV Sim and Schenker. Demonstrations at ITEC 2019 will utilize BISim technology as the simulation platform for a range of new capabilities for different products and training applications including a VR flight trainer, high-performance image generator, high-fidelity, part-task gunnery training, and a VR RHIB driver trainer.

“At ITEC we will be demonstrating our suite of integrated technologies along with training solutions to highlight the flexibility of our VBS simulation platform to adapt to the broadest range of training requirements,” said Cory Kumm, BISim’s Chief Product Officer. “VBS products offer comprehensive cutting-edge technology that military organizations need to ensure the best possible simulation-based training and readiness preparation of personnel for land, sea and air domains.”

In addition to the latest training solutions, BISim will also be demonstrating advances made to their new cloud-enabled, whole-earth simulation engine, Virtual Battlespace Synthetic Training Environment (VBS STE), which supports future military training requirements. VBS STE was first demoed in November 2018 at the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) as technology being developed through funded research and development for One World Terrain. BISim is under contract to prototype further U.S. Army STE concepts.

Specific demonstrations available at the BISim booth include:

  • BISim’s new whole-earth simulation engine VBS STE demoed on Schenker’s laptops
  • A VR-based Part-Task Flight Trainer, developed for the U.S. Navy, leveraging VBS Blue IG, BISim’s powerful 3D whole-earth image generator
  • A JTAC trainer created by QuantaDyn Corporation using BISim’s VBS Blue IG
  • A VR RHIB Trainer developed by Novatech and the University of Portsmouth for the Royal Navy using BISim’s VBS3
  • A high-fidelity CV9040 trainer developed by BISim with VBS3 for the Swedish Armed Forces

Outside of BISim’s booth, its presence at ITEC includes presentations and events. Senior Vice President, Product Management, Oliver Arup will present on the development of cloud-enabled simulation technologies for the U.S. Army’s Synthetic Training Environment initiative. Additionally, BISim is holding a VBS Information Session where military and industry members are invited to learn about the latest updates of the BISim product line and hear about upcoming releases.

To be among the first to see the newest additions to the product lineup, visit the BISim Stand (ID40) at the Stockholmsmässan between Tuesday, May 14 and Thursday, May 16.
