BISim’s new VBS Blue Image Generator renders high-performance, standards-based, 3D whole-earth scenes for simulation and training

ORLANDO, Fla. (USA) — Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim), a global developer of advanced military training and simulation software, today announces the launch of their cutting-edge image generation technology, VBS Blue IG, at I/ITSEC 2017 at booth #2235. BISim will demo VBS Blue IG alongside other new and existing products, including the company’s flagship virtual training environment VBS3 and supporting technology including the new VBS Simulation and IG SDKs and TerraTools. The Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) is being held in Orlando at the Orange County Convention Center from November 27 - December 1.

VBS Blue IG is a state-of-the-art, WGS-84 round-earth rendering image generator that integrates with any CIGI-compliant simulation host, including VBS3, to provide out-the-window and sensor visualization. Optimized for VR, AR and MR performance, VBS Blue IG can be used for a broad range of simulation and training uses anywhere on the virtual earth, providing “one world terrain” that can render high-fidelity, high-performance scenes from space all the way down to single blades of grass. The massive VBS content library includes more than 10,000 models, dramatically reducing costs for developers looking to use high-quality 3D models and animations in their scenarios and allowing for ease of integration. VBS Blue IG is the only image generator that provides a WYSIWYG interface for installation and configuration.

“VBS Blue IG has raised the bar on the performance and scale of image generation. Users can expect high performance from the VBS Blue IG rendering engine, which is optimized for the latest GPUs and supports realistic view distances and real-world scene densities,” said Pete Morrison, Co-CEO of BISim. “High-frame rates combat simulation sickness and discomfort typically found in AR/VR applications. VBS Blue IG is already powering several VR-based air-crew training systems for the U.S. Navy and Air Force.”

At I/ITSEC, BISim will demonstrate the power of VBS Blue IG in an integrated scenario that leverages the VBS product range, in addition to presentations from 11 leading members of the simulation industry. Attendees will be able to fly an Apache helicopter, drive a U.S. Army Stryker and exclusively experience F/A-18 flight simulation on a Brunner VR-Motion 200 six degrees of freedom motion platform equipped with highly advanced Motion Cueing Algorithms.

Bohemia Interactive Simulations has partnered with leading members in the simulation industry to present best-in-class software and hardware at I/ITSEC. Booth partners include TerraSim, Ausimtech, Brunner, CM Labs, FoxGuard Solutions, SimCentric Technologies, VATC and Vertex Solutions. Supporting partners include D-BOX, NVIDIA and SASimulations.

VBS Blue IG can also be seen on display at other company’s booths at the show, including QuantaDyn (#807), TRU Simulations (#1700), Barco (#848), KMW (#2401) and 3D Perception (#1070).

To be among the first to see the newest additions to the product lineup, and experience VBS Blue IG, visit the BISim booth (#2235) at the Orange County Convention Center between Monday, November 27 and Thursday, November 30.
